Creating Locks by Lucy has been a burning dream!
With a background and passion for hairdressing; I fell in love with the skill of making people feel beautiful. However it wasn't until I become a mama that my eyes were opened to the scary world of cosmetics. Trying to find products that could be shared throughout my household; gentle enough for the babes but still providing the results I desired, deemed an impossible task.
However, it led me on this incredible adventure...
At Locks by Lucy we stand for creating hair care products that are made from the finest quality natural and organic ingredients for the most nourishing choice.. Our products are formulated to be enjoyed by every member of the household; remaining safe and nourishing for the littlest of locks, to the longest.
We are proudly vegan friendly and 100% cruelty free; only tested on my own willing bambinos, friends and family.
I hope you love our products as much as I do creating them, and I can't thank you enough for helping support this dream!
A little on the serious side...
(I wouldn't be a real mum without a quick little lecture right?)
Our skin is our largest organ, it absorbs everything and anything we put on it! Our everyday hair care products: Shampoos, conditioners, treatments, styling products are also being absorbed into our bodies (and our precious babies). Dishearteningly most commercial brands are deceivingly packed full of:
Parabens: Scientifically proven to disrupt the human hormonal system
Sulphates: Strips both the hair and skin of their natural protective oils
Fragrance: Surprisingly if 'fragrance' or 'parfum' are listed, the product can contain more than 3000 separate chemicals! With studies showing it can disrupt the human nervous system as well as triggering allergies, migraines and asthma symptoms.
And that’s just the beginning of it unfortunately; you don't want to get me started on tear free shampoo's!
Unfortunately these harsh chemicals are everywhere and no, we can't live in a bubble (which I would make from unbreakable led free glass but not that I've thought about it...). However, wouldn't it be nice to reduce the amount and severity that we intake? and what great knowledge to pass onto our babes from so young!
High five to my mum for her inner hippy, I sure appreciate it now
